Happy Pets Homecare Services was founded by Mary Coleman in March 2011, in Darwin, Northern Territory but has recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland in January 2019.
At the time, Mary was a Manager in the corporate world, and Mum to two beautiful Australian Shepherd dogs "Chance and Indigo". Mary's nurturing personality and long standing desire to work with animals, coupled with her strong business acumen, led to the creation of Happy Pets Homecare Services.
Mary became a Member of Pet Sitters International, New York, in April 2011 and trained to become an Internationally recognised Certified Professional Pet Sitter.
Caring for other peoples’ pets like they were her own wasn’t just a business idea for Mary – it was a passion!

Mary's Story:
In the beginning, Happy Pets Homecare Services began offering pet sitting visits for pets in their own homes, which is a terrific option for many pets such as cats, birds, fish and small caged pets, but we came to realise that some of our doggy clients preferred not to be left home alone for extended periods of time without human companionship. We wanted to give them more than what our pet sitting visits would allow, and so our Pet Boarding service was born! Update - since relocating to the Sunshine Coast in January 2019 In-home Pet Boarding is temporarily unavailable.
Our Pet Boarding service opened its doors in 2014 after our beloved Australian Shepherd Dog "Chance" passed away, unexpectedly, at age 13.
Our Pet Boarding service opened its doors in 2014 after our beloved Australian Shepherd Dog "Chance" passed away, unexpectedly, at age 13.
Prior to Chance passing away, our other boy Indigo was diagnosed with bone cancer (Osteocarcoma) in 2013, after he broke his ankle. With his ankle un-fixable because of the cancer his only option for survival was to have his leg amputated. His estimated survival time after amputation was approximately 6 months, however, against all odds, he lived a happy and healthy life for another 2 years, and at the ripe old age of 13.5 years old he passed away. He was an amazing dog, with a beautiful and gentle personality.
We now happily care for dogs and small caged pets in our home and we absolutely love it! We feel that we have found a great balance by caring for pets in their own homes or in ours - whichever suits them better.
We genuinely love and adore all pets and we look forward to caring for yours for you one day either in your home or in ours!
